Back to Routine: Make Your Body & Wellbeing a Priority This September

Summer has a habit of throwing routines out of the window.

Holidays, weekends away, disrupted training, long journeys, more time sitting around or sometimes far more activity than your body is used to!

But September brings a natural reset.

As work, school, training and everyday routines settle back into place, it’s a great time to make your own health and wellbeing a priority again.

How is your body feeling after summer?

It’s easy to ignore the little signs that your body could do with some attention.

That stiff lower back when you get out of bed. Tight shoulders after a day at work. Legs that never quite seem to recover after running or training. Or that persistent tight spot you keep hoping will disappear on its own.

You don’t have to wait until something becomes a major problem before doing something about it.

Massage and soft-tissue therapy can be a useful part of looking after your body, particularly as you return to a more regular exercise and work routine.

Getting back into training?

September is often when people decide to get back into the gym, start running regularly again or return to their normal training schedule.

The temptation is to jump straight back in where you left off.

Unfortunately, your body may have other ideas!

If your activity levels have dropped over the summer, gradually building things back up can help your body adapt. Recovery, mobility, sleep and looking after tight or overworked muscles all deserve a place in the routine too.

Sports massage can help address muscular tension and stiffness, while treatments such as IASTM and dry cupping can also be incorporated where appropriate.

At Berkshire Fitness & Wellbeing in Newbury, we offer:

Sessions are tailored to you, whether you’re training regularly, returning to exercise or simply feeling the effects of work and everyday life.

Your body is part of the routine too

Getting back into routine doesn’t only mean organising your diary, getting back to the gym or eating better.

It can also mean making a little more time to look after yourself.

If you’ve spent the summer saying, “I’ll sort that out when things calm down,” September might be the perfect time to finally do it.
